Verizon call forwarding codes and setup
Verizon uses star codes for call forwarding, not the GSM codes you see on AT&T or T-Mobile. Dial the code below from your Verizon phone, wait for the confirmation tone, and every call routes wherever you want it. The whole thing takes about thirty seconds and there is no app to install.
Two things trip Verizon customers up more than anything else, and both are covered below: there is no iPhone Settings toggle for forwarding on Verizon, and the iPhone can answer a call itself before it ever forwards. Get those two right and forwarding just works.
The codes below cover Verizon Wireless (including Visible) and Verizon Fios home phone, which use slightly different no-answer codes.

On AT&T and T-Mobile iPhones, you can flip call forwarding on from Settings, Phone, Call Forwarding. On Verizon, that screen is greyed out or missing. Verizon does forwarding through dial codes only, so ignore the Settings menu and use the dialer.
Turn off Live Voicemail and call screening first
On a recent iPhone, Live Voicemail and Screen Unknown Callers can answer the call on the device before Verizon gets a chance to forward it. Screen Unknown Callers picks up every number you have not saved, which is every new customer. If your code went through but calls still land in voicemail, this is almost always why.
Go to Settings, Apps, Phone. Turn off Live Voicemail, and set Screen Unknown Callers to Never. Then re-enter your forwarding code. Now unanswered calls forward instead of getting intercepted.
All calls versus only the ones you miss
Forward all calls and your Verizon phone never rings. That is what you want if the goal is to hand the line off completely. Forward only missed calls and your phone rings first, then anything you do not pick up rolls over. Most business owners want the second one so they can still grab calls when they are free.
Verizon Fios and home phone lines use a separate no-answer code and add busy-line forwarding on top. Both sets of codes are shown above, pulled straight from the same data our app uses so they stay correct.
