The short answer: For most HVAC, plumbing and electrical shops, our pick is NextPhone: a published flat price from $199 a month with unlimited calls, calls answered the same day you sign up, month-to-month, and a direct Jobber connection. Broccoli is built for multi-location home-services companies on ServiceTitan that buy through a sales process. If that's you and the job has to land on the ServiceTitan board during the call, compare Avoca, Sameday and ServiceTitan's own AI Virtual Agent. If you want the AI built into the software you already run, try Jobber Receptionist or Housecall Pro's CSR AI. For a person on the line, Abby Connect.
We make NextPhone, so weigh our pick with that in mind. It's ranked first, the other 6 follow in alphabetical order with the same columns, and we say plainly where NextPhone falls short.
Why NextPhone is our pick for most shops
- You see the price before you talk to anyone. Flat plans from $199 a month with unlimited calls, so a heat wave costs what a quiet month does. Broccoli doesn't publish a price.
- Live today, no demo first. Forward your number, the AI reads your website, and calls are answered the same day. 7-day trial, then month-to-month.
- Emergencies reach your on-call tech. It transfers by the rules you write, straight through or with a spoken summary first, and alerts you if a transfer with a summary goes unanswered.
- Works with Jobber, which Broccoli doesn't list. On the Growth plan, every call lands in Jobber as a client and a request, and Housecall Pro and ServiceTitan get the call through Zapier.
- 14 languages, Spanish included.
Where it falls short: it is AI-only, with no live agents, it doesn't run outbound campaigns for open estimates or memberships, and it doesn't book onto the ServiceTitan board while the caller is on the line. If any of those is a must-have, look at Broccoli, Avoca or ServiceTitan's own agent.
A sample home-services emergency (a leaking water heater): the AI takes the address and connects the caller to the technician on call.
Broccoli's $52 million raise, by the numbers
On October 28, 2026, Broccoli announced $52 million across a Series A and a Series B, both led by Khosla Ventures, with Y Combinator and Operator Partners also investing. Here is what it made public, next to Avoca, its closest rival:

| Broccoli | Avoca | |
|---|---|---|
| Total raised | $52 million (Series A $22 million, Series B $30 million) | More than $125 million (seed, Series A, Series B) |
| Announced | October 28, 2026 | April 27, 2026 |
| Lead investors | Khosla Ventures (both rounds) | Kleiner Perkins (Series A), Meritech and General Catalyst (Series B) |
| Valuation | Not disclosed. Fortune reported $300 million from an unnamed source | $1 billion |
| Revenue | Not disclosed. Fortune reports it tripled since the Series A | Not disclosed. Dealroom reports it passed $10 million in annual recurring revenue in 2025 |
| Customers | More than 1,500 businesses | Not disclosed as a count. Its homepage says "Trusted by 1,000+ Service Leaders" |
| Volume it reports | More than 10 million customer conversations and 2.5 million appointments booked | "On track to book $1B in jobs" in 2026 |
| Team | 160 people | Not disclosed |
| Published price | None | None |
From each company's funding announcement or homepage unless another source is named. Fortune figures are from its coverage of the raise.
For a contractor shopping for an AI receptionist, the raise changes one thing: you'll see Broccoli's name a lot more. It doesn't change the buying process, and that process is the reason most people search for an alternative.
Why people look for a Broccoli alternative

Broccoli calls itself "more than an AI answering service." It is a suite of named AI agents: an AI receptionist and an AI CSR for inbound calls, outbound agents that chase open estimates, sell memberships and send appointment reminders, speed-to-lead replies for Google Local Services, Yelp and Angi leads, and QA and coaching for your human team.
Three things send people looking elsewhere:
No price before the demo. Broccoli has no pricing page and no sign-up. The only ways in are "Talk to sales" and a 45-minute demo. No credible third party publishes a number either. You learn the price on a sales call.
Built for bigger operations. Its homepage groups customer logos by annual revenue, starting at $2 to 10 million and running up to "Largest enterprises." Named customers include Apex Service Partners, Authority Brands, Any Hour Group, Mr. Electric and Ace Hardware Home Services. That is a different buyer from a 3-truck plumbing shop.
ServiceTitan first. Broccoli's deepest connection is a certified ServiceTitan app. Its homepage also lists Housecall Pro, Salesforce and AccuLynx. Jobber, FieldEdge and Service Fusion don't appear anywhere on its site.
What Broccoli does well
Credit where it's due:
- Books onto the board. Its ServiceTitan Marketplace listing says it follows your capacity planning and books straight onto the dispatch board.
- Goes past answering. Outbound agents work your open estimates and memberships, and fill gaps in the schedule.
- Your own voice. Its Voice Studio, launched in October 2026, can clone a CSR's voice or pick from 30+ voices, in English and Spanish.
- Fast for an enterprise tool. Its listing says most customers go live within a few days and nearly all within a week. Broccoli also says it is SOC 2 compliant.
Independent reviews are thin: we found no Broccoli reviews on G2, Capterra or Trustpilot, only customer quotes on Broccoli's and ServiceTitan's own pages. If you are a multi-location ServiceTitan operator, Broccoli belongs on your shortlist. The rest of this page is for everyone else.
The 7 Broccoli alternatives at a glance
Published prices come from each vendor's own pricing page, as tracked in our Price Index. Integration status and everything marked "not published" was read on each vendor's own site on October 30, 2026.
| Tool | Who answers | Price | Start without a sales call? | ServiceTitan / Housecall Pro / Jobber | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| NextPhone (our pick) | AI | Flat monthly plans from $199, unlimited calls | Yes, 7-day trial | Zapier / Zapier / Direct (Growth plan) | Small and mid-size shops that want a fixed bill and to start today |
| Abby Connect | Live receptionists + AI | From $164/month for 50 minutes, billed per minute | Yes, 14-day trial | Native / Native / Native | Shops that want a person on most calls |
| Avoca | AI, with Avoca's human CSRs as backup | Not published | No, demo only | Certified app / Listed / Not listed | Large ServiceTitan operators |
| Housecall Pro CSR AI | AI | Not published (paid add-on) | Inside Housecall Pro | No / Built in / No | Housecall Pro shops that want it in one bill |
| Jobber Receptionist | AI | $29/month add-on for 30 conversations, then $0.79 each. Unlimited on Jobber Plus | Inside Jobber (not during a Jobber trial) | No / No / Built in | Jobber shops with light call volume |
| Sameday | AI | From $449/month for 500 minutes | No, demo only | Partner / Direct / Direct | ServiceTitan shops that want a published starting price |
| ServiceTitan AI Virtual Agent | AI, escalates to your people | Per-call fee, rate not published | Inside ServiceTitan | Built in / No / No | ServiceTitan shops on qualifying packages |
"Native," "Direct," "Certified app" and "Partner" are each vendor's own description. "Listed" means the vendor names the tool without saying how it connects. Jobber's help center gives two different allowances for the add-on (30 conversations in one article, 100 in another), so check yours. NextPhone's Jobber and Zapier connections are on the $299 Growth plan.
Pick by the reason you're leaving

"I want to see a price first"
Three of the 7 publish one. NextPhone is flat: $199 a month on Pro with unlimited calls, $299 on Growth with integrations and done-for-you setup, $599 on Scale. Sameday starts at $449/month for 500 minutes and doesn't publish its overage rate. Abby Connect bills per minute from $164/month for 50 minutes. Jobber's add-on is $29 for 30 conversations.
Here is what the published prices come to in a normal month (100 calls) and a busy month (300 calls), with 3-minute calls:
| Tool | 100 calls/month | 300 calls/month |
|---|---|---|
| NextPhone | $199 | $199 |
| Abby Connect (answered by people) | $898 | $2,484 |
| Jobber Receptionist add-on (not counting your Jobber plan) | $84.30 | $242.30 |
| Sameday | $449 | $789 |
| Broccoli, Avoca, Housecall Pro CSR AI, ServiceTitan AI Virtual Agent | Not published | Not published |
Cheapest published plan plus published overage that covers the volume. Jobber counts a "conversation" only when the AI actually talks with the caller, so spam doesn't count. This table treats every call as one conversation. Sameday publishes no overage rate, so 900 minutes uses its 1,000-minute plan.
"I need it live this week"
NextPhone and Abby Connect both have self-serve trials. With NextPhone you forward your existing number, the AI reads your website, and calls are answered the same day. The Jobber and Housecall Pro receptionists switch on inside software you already run. Broccoli, Avoca and Sameday all start with a demo.
"I run Jobber"
Broccoli doesn't list Jobber, so this is the clearest split. Jobber's own Receptionist books through your Online Booking form and transfers emergencies you define by keyword. One Jobber user on its community forum calls it "sharp, but it is not very flexible. The line of questioning feels locked in."
NextPhone connects directly to Jobber: every call lands as a client and a request with the summary and every answer attached, matched to the existing client by phone number when they've called before. Housecall Pro shops get the customer created through Zapier and the full summary by text and email.
"I run ServiceTitan and want the job on the board"
This is where Broccoli is strongest, and only a few alternatives match it. Avoca has a certified ServiceTitan app and its own team of human CSRs behind the AI. Sameday is a ServiceTitan technology partner. ServiceTitan's own AI Virtual Agent books jobs, memberships and recurring visits 24/7, switches to Spanish, and escalates to your team. Per ServiceTitan's FAQ it can't add notes or transcripts to the booked job, every call is billed whatever its outcome, and it needs qualifying ServiceTitan packages.
NextPhone is weaker here, and we'd rather say so. It reaches ServiceTitan through ServiceTitan's own Zapier app after the call ends, creating the customer and job with the call details. It doesn't check ServiceTitan availability or book onto the board while the caller is on the line.
"I want a person on the call"
Abby Connect mixes live receptionists and AI and lists native ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro and Jobber integrations. Avoca also warm-transfers the calls its AI can't handle to its own CSRs. Broccoli escalates to your own staff.
